How to make Prawn Chaat?
Looking for a quick dish for Eid then look no further than this tasty Prawn Chaat. It’s my boy’s favourite and really easy to make.
Ingredients
- 500gr prawns
- 1 tbsp lemon
- 4 tsp crushed garlic
- Butter or ghee to fry the prawns
- 1 tsp methi seeds (fenugreek)
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 120gr plain yoghurt
- 60ml water
- 1 tsp ground jeera (cumin)
- 1 tsp ground coriander (dhanya)
- 2 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp fish masala
- 1 tsp salt
- 250ml cream (I don’t always use the whole tub as I prefer it less creamy)
- Marinate your prawns with the lemon juice and 2 tsp of the garlic for at least 2 hours.
- Heat some butter in a pan and fry the prawns until almost done.
- Remove the prawns and keep aside.
- Add a bit more butter and then add the methi seeds and stir fry for 2 minutes.
- Add the rest of the ingredients as well as the remaining 2 tsp garlic and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
- Add your prawns to the pot and then lastly add the cream.
- Garnish with some coriander and serve with hot naan or roti.
This recipe can easily be doubled for larger quantities.
Enjoy it and please send us your photos before you eat :)
